6 APRIL 2007 Volunteer to Help the NYCLU Survey NYC High School Students on Military Recruitment in their Schools
New York’s students need your help.
Military recruiters in schools are using heavy-handed tactics to harass students, violate their privacy rights, and target low income students and students of color.
The NYCLU, in collaboration with the Students or Soldiers? Coalition* and the Office of the Manhattan Borough President, is conducting a large-scale survey of New York City high school students in order to find out more information on how military recruiters target NYC schools. We will be asking questions about opt-out procedures, recruiter access to classrooms, school counseling services, etc.
The Students or Soldiers? Coalition will be conducting a training for surveyors on the evening of Wednesday, April 11th at 6:30pm. We need volunteers to survey students exiting designated schools during the afternoons of Monday, April 16th and Wednesday, April 18th.
Please RSVP to arosmarin@nyclu.org if you’d like to attend the training or have questions about the surveying project. You can also RSVP by calling 212-607-3358.
Training Date:
Wednesday, April 11th, 6:30pm
Offices of UFPJ 261 W. 36th Street, 7th Floor between 7th and 8th avenues.
